Reivers Beat Tritons in 2OT Thriller

Fort Dodge, IA: Iowa Western beat Iowa Central to improve to 4-3, 1-0 in conference play.

How it happened:  The Reivers were off to a quick start outshooting the Tritons 12-3 in the first half.  They were held scoreless going into halftime in a physical back and forth game.  Coming out of the half they were able to strike quickly scoring in the 49th minute.  The goal came in from a cross from Sophomore McKenna Banks and was finished by Hope Riche for her second goal on the season.  Hope has now scored in two straight games for the Reivers.  Iowa Central was able to equalize in the 83rd minute off of a corner kick.  Regular time would come to an end with the Reivers outshooting Central 27-12, 17-9 shots on goal.

The Reivers were able to control the pace in both overtimes, but were unable to finish anything in the first of the two periods.  5 minutes into the final overtime the Reivers were able to find the back of the net to end the game. The final goal is credited to Laura Linares, her first on the season.  The Reivers were able to control the buid up of play, Paola Ochoa was able to get the ball at the top of the 18 and slot Laura into the box for a clinical finish back post.

Notes & Numbers:  Iowa Western improves to 4-3-0 overall, 1-0-0 in conference play. 

Quotes:  Coach Adam Sanchez:  We were able to pull 3 points from todays game, a massive victory when being on the road.  Iowa Central is a quality opponent and it's always difficult to play them on the road in a harsh environment.
