ICCAC FALL 2022 PREVIEW | DIVISION I CROSS COUNTRY
The Division I Cross Country season opens up with the Reiver Classic in Council Bluffs. Three of the four teams will be in attendance -- Iowa Central, Iowa Western and Southwestern.
On the men's side -- last season, Iowa Central won their second consecutive NJCAA Championship on the men's side, and fifth in team history. Led by Aspel Kiprob, he will be back after a runner-up finish in 2022 to lead the Tritons.
Iowa Western will be competing as well -- taking second place right behind Iowa Central last season at Nationals. Uncertainty looms with roster turnover but the Reivers expect to be ready come November.
Indian Hills is also looking at roster turnover with the departure of their top two runners. The Warriors will look to two guys from Pekin -- one an NJCAA Track & Field All-American - to lead the way in 2022.
Southwestern will also compete and improve upon last year's championships which only sent two runners to NJCAAs.
On the women's side -- Iowa Western and Iowa Central will jockey again for the top spot in the region. Iowa Central won the regional last year, but Iowa Western finished higher at Nationals -- which included a runner up finish from Mercy Biwott who returns to Council Bluffs this season.
Indian Hills is also coming off their best season ever in 2021 as they look to keep building in 2022.
