2020 ICCAC Women's Cross Country Postseason Awards
The ICCAC Women's Cross Country All-Region Teams were determined at the 2020 Region XI Championships on Sunday, with the top performers earning themselves honors based on their finish at the meet.
For Division I, Iowa Central accounted for eight All-Region selections, Iowa Western with four, and Indian Hills had three.
In Division II, Hawkeye led the field with seven selections. NIACC had four, and DMACC finished with one.
The Division I Female Athlete of the Year was Faith Linga from Iowa Western. Linga, who also won the award last year, had a dominating season throughout 2020 coming in first at the Morningside Invite and the Indian Hills Invite. Linga finished the Region XI Championships with a time of 17:32.53 which was 26 seconds ahead of the runner-up.
The Division II Female Athlete of the Year is NIACC's Sarah Bertry who claimed the individual medal at the Region XI Championships. Bertry finished 28 seconds ahead of the runner-up in the Region XI Championships with a time of 19:02.59. Bertry was recognized for Athlete of the Week five times and continued to impress each race she competed in. Sarah Bertry placed second at the Indian Hills Invitational in a personal-best time of 18:26, which is the third fastest 5K time in NIACC women's history. In Bertry's races this season, she won three, was the runner up in another and finished in the top 4 at each event.
Dee Brown of Iowa Central was named the Division I Women's Coach of the Year. The Tritons won their 17th straight Region XI Championship dating back to 2004. As the 2020 NJCAA National Championship hosts, the Tritons look to win their fourth consecutive NJCAA title, and 9th in the last 14 years. In 2020, Coach Brown led the Tritons to a No. 1 overall for both the men & women.
Hawkeye's Tyler Mulder was announced as the Division II Women's Coach of the Year. The RedTails won the first-ever Division II Region XI Championship, with five of the top six finishes , and seven of the top 10. This season, Hawkeye entered the region meet ranked third in the country and will compete for a national title on Nov. 14 in Fort Dodge.
