2024 National Tournament Recap | Division I Volleyball
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -- The Indian Hills Warriors traveled south to Tennessee for the 2024 Division I NJCAA National Tournament this season and came out of it earning eighth place with a 1-3 record.
Seeded No. 14, the Warriors opened up with a straight-set upset over No. 3 seeded New Mexico Military, marking one of the program's most significant wins. They were led by sophomore Sara Van Gisteren who had 15 kills, four aces and nine digs.
In the quarterfinals the Warriors paired up against 6th-seeded Barton (Kan.). The Cougars, who topped Indian Hills earlier in the season 3-1, bested them again in the national tournament, 3-0. Van Gisteren led the Warriors in scoring once again with 16 kills and 14 digs, while Ana Westerich had 27 assists.
From there the Warriors dropped their final two matches in the consolation rounds to Missouri-West Plains and Utah State-Eastern.
Van Gisteren was named to the All-Tournament team. She averaged 4.05 kills per set with 69 total kills in four matches. She had two double-doubles and a 20-kill high against Missouri-West Plains.
The 2024 National Tournament marked the team's sixth appearance all time. It was the third-straight tournament the Warriors have finished in the top 10 of the event --- and fifth all-time.
