Match of the Week: #16 Indian Hills def. Iowa Western, 3-0

Indian Hills locked up the Midwest District A designation last week after picking up a win over Iowa Western 3-0. With the win, they are now 2-0 head-to-head against the Reivers with one more to play. Iowa Western will be the Midwest B representative. Both teams will host -- Indian Hills on Saturday, Nov. 4 in Ottumwa and Iowa Western on Sunday, Nov. 5 in Council Bluffs. 
 
Indian Hills controlled the match on Thursday in Council Bluffs, winning all three sets 25-20-, 25-17 and 25-17. The win was the Warriors fourth-straight over the Reivers with their last loss coming on Oct. 20, 2021. 
 
Statistically, Indian Hills was led by Sara Van Gisteren who had 11 kills and 11 digs. Kinga Michalska had 10 kills as well as the team totaled 32.
Sabrina Nogueira Da Silva and Ana Carolina Westerich anchored the defensive effort, posting match-highs in digs with 14. Carolina Westerich also had 25 assists to lead both teams. 
 
Iowa Western struggled offensively. They were outhit .250 to .040 percentage wise. Sarai Simpson had eight kills and Carol Herrero had seven. Julia Udell had 13 digs and Yuna Ansquer had 23 assists. The bright spot was Stephanie Sarmezan who had seven total blocks.
 
These two teams will face off one more time on Tuesday, Oct. 24 in Ottumwa.
