Conference Recap | ICCAC Week 1

Southwestern picked up a win in the first week of conference play after defeating Iowa Lakes on the road in five sets. 

Both teams spent the entire match trading sets, with Southwestern taking the first and last. The Spartans won 25-19 in the first, 25-18 in the third and 15-12 in the final set. 

Iowa Lakes fought until the end on their home court -- they took sets two and four with scores of 25-22 and 25-14. 

As for game leaders, Southwestern was led by Samira Baade who recorded 14 kills and 14 digs. Two other Spartans had double-digit kills in Gréta Petöfi and Hallica Warren-Anderson who had 11 & 10, respectively. Beatriz Goncalves tallied up 22 assists in the contest to lead the team. She split setting duties with Jayda Chew who had 15. 

Defensively, Petofi was a monster by the net racking up nine blocks. Emily Strait led the way with 17 digs.

Iowa Lakes was powered by a big offensive performance from Morgan Wigg who had 19 kills. Kenzie Lee had 13 and Haily Shequen had 12. Allison Hagberg had 25 assists, Jordan Grimes had 19. Four players had double-figure digs, with Lee leading the way with 18 scoops.

Southwestern will host Northeast who is coming off a sweep over #15 Hawkeye this week. Iowa Lakes will be on the road to Hawkeye --tThat match will start at 6:00 PM in Waterloo.
