2023 ICCAC Fall Preview | Volleyball

Division I:

After a historic season for Indian Hills in 2022, they turn the page to 2023. Coach Michel, who now is the winningest coach in Warriors' Volleyball history will look to repeat some of the magic from last year. Indian Hills does lose ICCAC Division I Player of the Year Hennesys Lalane, as Coach Michel tries to focus on another postseason run in 2023.

It's year two for head coach Korie Tetzlaff as she looks to bring Iowa Western back into the fold after a 20-17 season. Her roster will take on almost a completely new look as the Reivers and the Warriors are now just the only two ICCAC members in Division I Volleyball. Both are in line to host a District Tournament this season come November.

Division II:

The ICCAC Coaches Poll once again has the five-time reigning regular season champions, Iowa Central, at the top of the mountain. Iowa Central finished 2022 undefeated in conference play and with a 36-7 record overall. In the NJCAA Division II Volleyball Championship Tournament the Tritons finished seventh, after losing in the quarterfinals. They have yet to lose a conference game in the past two seasons.

Kirkwood for the second-straight year comes in at No. 2 in the Coaches Poll. Kirkwood ended their season at the volleyball championship tournament and will look to repeat history with first year head coach Dave Brown. He will replace 18 year vet Jill Williams after her 500+ win career.

The Hawkeye RedTails finish off the top three in the 2023 poll and fifth-year head coach Tyann Wolfensperger has some talented freshmen added to the roster for 2023. Hawkeye will once again look to make noise in the standings after reaching the Region 11 Tournament Championship game each of the past three seasons.

Two newcomers join the ranks of Division II, Marshalltown and Western Iowa Tech. The Tigers of Marshalltown moved from DI to DII, while Western Iowa Tech joins the ICCAC in their first year of athletics, volleyball being one of them.

DMACC, Ellsworth, Iowa Lakes, NIACC, Northeast, Southeastern, and Southwestern round out the rest of the league. The Division II standings now is loaded with 12 teams, only eight of which will qualify for postseason play.
