2024 ICCAC Women's Indoor Track & Field All-Reigon Released
As a team, Iowa Western took back the crown at the Region 11 Indoor Championship. After Iowa Central ruined their chances of a three-peat last year, the Reivers were out for revenge this season. Iowa Western won 15 of the 20 events during the Championship and had no trouble keeping their distance with team scoring. They finished with 266.5 points which was a 100-point lead to the second place finisher, Iowa Central who ended with 165 points.
From the champion Reivers, the 2024 ICCAC Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Year went to jumper Mercy Honesty. Honesty won the Region 11 Championships' Triple Jump with a mark of 12.09 meters. Her best mark of the year from the Triple Jump was back on February 9 in the Ichabod Invitational. She recorded a mark of 12.44 which still stands about the best mark this season in the NJCAA.
Oarabile Tshosa was named the 2024 ICCAC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year after her impressive year in the conference as a part of Indian Hills' team. Tshosa currently holds the best times in the ICCAC in both the 60 Meter (1st in NJCAA) and the 200 Meter (3rd in NJCAA). Her time in the 60 came back in early December and was recorded at 7.41 seconds. In the 200, her best time of the season sits at 24:00. Kaylia Kelly of Iowa Western came close in the Region 11 Championships, but fell 0.3 seconds short -- winning the event at the meet.
Tshosa did not compete at the regional, but her performances this season garnered her the top Track award this season.
Among the top All-Region performers included Iowa Western's Ethel Amissah, Barbara Neiva and Angeline Estrada.
Amissah placed first in the 400-Meter Dash with a time of 56.70 seconds. She also placed third in the 200 Meter, falling behind first place by just 0.64 seconds.
