Division I All-Region performers were recognized for the 2024 season with Iowa Western earning ten of the available eighteen slots. Thus, Indian Hills placed eight players on the postseason awards list.
Iowa Western claimed the majority of the All-Region slots following another impressive season where they ranked No. 2 in the country for the much of the season and an undefeated record of 14-0-3 heading into the National Tournament. The Reivers are riding a winning streak of over 50 matches -- they have not lost since August 2022.
The most notable Reiver player on the 2024 All-Region list this season was Oruha Hayashi who was tagged as the ICCAC Division I Women's Soccer Player of the Year. Hayashi has 21 goals and the fourth-most assists in the NJCAA with 18; she has tallied 60 points which is also fourth-most in the NJCAA. She has seven multi-goals games this season with a season high four against Southeastern on Aug. 31.
Joining Hayashi from Iowa Western's front line are freshmen Laura Rodriguez and Honoka Nohara. Rodriguez has contributed seven goals and assists, good for third-most goal contributions on Iowa Western. Nohara had the second-most goal contributions for the Reiversmwith ten goals scored and nine assists.
Making All-Region from Iowa Western's midfield is Alexia Medrano and G. Ryu. Medrano scored five goals and provided three assists while starting 15 of the 16 games she played in this season. Ryu earned All-Region as a freshman with an impressive five goals and six assists.
Alaina Steding, Ellie Brock, Hinami Ogushi and Marianna Bito all the Reiver defensive players selected to All-Region. Each of them started at least 14 games this season, collectively holding their opponents to only 10 goals scored in 17 games.
Rounding out the selections for Iowa Western is freshman goalkeeper Alice Russell. Throughout the season Russell has been the wall in front of the goal for the Reivers only allowing seven goals in over 1100 minutes of playing time while making 25 saves.
Indian Hills had a solid season and found themselves ranked in the top 20 in the NJCAA at times during the campaign.
Leading the way for the Warriors throughout the season was Arnicka Louis. Playing upfront, Louis scored 11 goals and had nine assists in her freshman season. Both led the team.
Also playing on the front line was Maika Nchana who had the second-most goals scored on the team with eight along with four assists.
Earning honors while playing in the midfield were Alexia Bru, Sumiko Ramos and Nana Tanikawa.
Bru played in and started in all eighteen games for the Warriors contributing seven assists and two goals. Ramos started the majority of games and contributed with two assists. Tanikawa finished the year tied for the most assists on Indian Hills with nine while also scoring five times.
Aburee Boyd and Mayo Kawashima were the Indian Hills defenders that made All-Region this year. The players combined for nine assists from the back line while also bolstering their defense.
Completing the All-Region selections was Warrior goalkeeper María Melendez. Melendez kept seven clean sheets in eighteen games while making 70 saves.
Finally, 2024 Coach of the Year honors were given to Iowa Western's Adam Sanchez for the fourth year in a row and sixth time overall. His team remained undefeated over the last two years and will be competing to retain their National Title, attempting to win it for a third straight year. Iowa Western was awarded the No. 1 seed of the NJCAA National Tournament.
