Six ICCAC Players Named Women's Soccer All-Americans
The NJCAA released the Fall 2021 All-Americans for Women's soccer on Tuesday, with six athletes from the ICCAC making the list.
Division I had three athletes make the All-American teams. One out of Indian Hills, and the other two were Reivers that made it to the NJCAA National Tournament.
Division I ICCAC Women's Soccer Player of the Year Bailey Weimann earned First Team All-American honors. She led the Indian Hills Warriors to a 18-2 record, losing only one game in the regular season to Iowa Western.
Weimann led the ICCAC in goals (25), assists (15), and points (65), while being second in the NJCAA in goals and points. In her career, 36 goals and had 25 assists in 36 games played.
Iowa Western's two players with All-American Honors were Marie Quentel and Paula Boza. A freshman, Quentel earned Second Team honors by scoring 10 goals, along with nine assists, being second on the Reivers in those stat lines.
She defended incredibly well, which elevated the Reiver's performance in the regular season, and helped them make the NJCAA National Tournament.
Boza made the Third Team All-American team. Boza, leading Iowa Western in goals (15) and assists (15) also led the team in total points (45). With her stats, it landed her with the third spot for assists in the NJCAA, and seventh in points. Boza led an offense that averaged nearly 3.5 goals per game.
Moving to Division II, Hawkeye and Northeast placed three players in the All-American teams between the two teams.
Starting off was the Division II ICCAC Women's Soccer Player of the year Marita Leimbach from Hawkeye who made the First Team.
Leimbach was top 5 in the ICCAC for all offensive statistics, and sits at the 10th spot in total points (51) in the NJCAA, sixth (17) in assists, and third in game winning goals (8). She brought Hawkeye to earn a share of the regular season conference title and the No. 2 seed of the Region XI Tournament and ended their season as the regional runners up.
Northeast landed two of their players in the All-American teams.
Forward Naomi Pedroza was labeled with Second Team honors, and Romeni Gurmendi made it on Third Team.
Pedroza, a two-time All-American, led the ICCAC in goals and total points, and also is sixth in the NJCAA for goals (27) and fifth in total points (64). Northeast's offense was dominant when Pedroza was able to get going. They scored over four goals per game.
Gurmendi sat right behind Pedroza for second in the ICCAC for goals and points, and landed fourth in the NJCAA for assists (18) and eighth for points (56).
The two led the Hawks to their second consecutive Region XI Championship and another national tournament appearance.
