Region XI Tournament Preview | Women's Soccer
1st Round, Sunday, October 21, 2018
No. 5 Iowa Lakes @ No. 4 Indian Hills - Ottumwa, IA - 2:00 PM
No. 5 Iowa Lakes finished the season with a record of 6-7-1 (4-4-1 ICCAC). This team really was flourishing during the month of September, going 5-2 during that span. Then the month of October hit and it was not so good for the Lakers, finishing the month with a record of 0-3-1. Iowa Lakes will look to change their momentum going into the playoffs on the road against an Indian Hills club they lost to by three goals earlier in the year.
No. 4 Indian Hills wrapped up their season with a final record of 12-3 (6-3 ICCAC). The Warriors had a solid season overall but struggled against top ICCAC competition, losing three games by a combined four goals in the games against Iowa Western, Iowa Central, and Northeast. Against other conference opponents, Indian Hills had no mercy, winning by an average margin of eight goals per contest. They will look to prove that they are a top team in the conference against an opponent in Iowa Lakes that they already defeated on Sept. 15 by a score of 5-2.
No. 6 NIACC @ No. 3 Northeast - Norfolk, NE - 3:00 PM
No. 6 NIACC concluded the 2018 season with a record of 6-6-1 (4-4-1 ICCAC). This Trojan team had an up and down regular season. They notched four conference wins, but they all came against the bottom half of the conference. However, they finished the season with two wins in a row over Scott and Dakota County which propelled them into the post-season. The Trojans look to carry that winning mentality into a tough matchup against No. 3 Seed Northeast on the road in Norfolk.
No. 3 Northeast ended their season with a record of 7-6-1 (6-3 ICCAC). The Hawks have had roller-coaster season of sorts. They started out with two straight losses in their non-conference slate, then kicked off ICCAC play going 6-1 to start the season. Then finished 0-2 against the top two teams in the conference in Iowa Central & Iowa Western to close the conference season. They will try and kick off their playoff run with a win against another team that is looking to prove themselves in NIACC, at home in Norfolk. The Hawks beat the Trojans earlier in the season 2-0.
Semifinals, Wednesday, October 24, 2018 @ Higher Seed
Winner of No. 6 NIACC @ No. 3 Northeast @ No. 2 Iowa Central - Fort Dodge, IA - 2:00 PM
No. 2 Iowa Central finished their season with a record of 12-2 (8-1 ICCAC). The Iowa Central Tritons beat everyone in conference except Iowa Western, who routed them 8-1 back on Sept 12 in their first conference tilt of the year in Council Bluffs. The Tritons are trying to extend their eight-game conference win streak and prove that they are right there with Iowa Western in being the best of the best in the ICCAC. Iowa Central will play the winner of NIACC vs. Northeast in a semifinal matchup.
Winner of No. 5 Iowa Lakes @ No. 4 Indian Hills @ No. 1 Iowa Western - Council Bluffs, IA - 2:00 PM
No. 1 Iowa Western cruised through their season with a record of 11-2 (9-0 ICCAC). The Reivers really didn't have a close game in all of conference play. Winning by an average of 8.5 goals per game, the Reivers dominated the competition. Even the non-conference slate which gave them their two season losses, the Reivers only lost by one goal in each contest, including one of which went to overtime against Snow College on Aug. 31. Iowa Western will look to try and maintain their unblemished conference record against the winner of Iowa Lakes vs. Indian Hills in the semifinals.
