Bettich, Spree Take Home Top Conference Honors
February 20, 2025
Indian Hills Wrestling was tagged with the league's top honors this season after winning the North Central District Championships and finishing atop the ICCAC Dual Standings in 2025.
Riley Bettich claimed the ICCAC Men's Wrestler of the Year honor while Cole Spree was named the ICCAC Men's Wrestling Coach of the Year.
Bettich, who is currently listed as the No. 1 ranked wrestler at 133, will compete in the National Championships in the 125 pound bracket after winning the North Central District in that class.
The sophomore, who sat out the 2023-24 season, will be one of the top seeds at the National Tournament in a weight class with multiple returning All-Americans. He has a 12-2 record this season (per TrackWrestling) with his only losses coming against a four-year opponent and an unattached wrestler at the Viking Open in Oklahoma.
Bettich has NJCAA victories over 133 pound No. 5 and North Central District Champion Drew Cooper of Iowa Central as well as No. 5 at 125, also of Iowa Central, Jaydale Whitlock.
Additionally, he has ranked wins over Hoyt Hvass of North Idaho and Sean-Michael Gonazales of Carl Albert State.
Bettich was an NJCAA All-American in 2023 after a 7th place finish and is the first Warrior to be named ICCAC Wrestler of the year since the award began in 2017-18.
Spree earned his second Coach of the Year honor and first during his time at Indian Hills. The former Ellsworth Panther won the award back in 2018-19 as well.
Indian Hills won their second North Central District Championship in team history and first since 2021. They won six of the 10 weight classes at the event en route to the title.
The Warriors went a perfect 6-0 in ICCAC duals, 10-0 in all regular season duals and are the No. 2 ranked team in the country heading into the National Championships.
Currently, Indian Hills has a ranked wrestler in every weight class.
