2023 Winter Preview | Men's Wrestling

The 2023-24 Wrestling Season begins for ICCAC teams this weekend with yet another competitive season on the horizon.

Last year's District Champions, Iowa Western, is slated as the favorite this season after a third place finish at nationals. They do lose some of their two wrestlers from a season ago, including two national champions and a runner up. However, the Reivers still have returning pieces to make a run at the team title this season.

Iowa Central is ranked No. 11 in the first NJCAA poll after a seventh place finish last year as a team at Nationals. The Tritons return two All-Americans and are annually a threat come postseason time.

The Indian Hills Warriors would like to perform better as a whole come the first weekend in March. The Warriors were a top 10 finisher last season, but expectations have been higher than their finishes. They had four All-Americans last year -- none of which are back this season.

Ellsworth and NIACC each are ready to get back to their winning standards. Two years ago NIACC finished in the top 5, but fell to 19th last year. Ellsowrth was top 10 two years ago and had been eight the nine seasons prior to last year. They'll look to improve on their 15th place finish and make it nine of 11 seasons in the top 10.

Iowa Lakes has a new coach again -- Corey Meyer takes over and will do what he can to put together a competitive season in Estherville -- where everyone will meet on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 11, for the North Central District Championships.
