ICCAC Women's Golf All-Region & Award Winners Recognized

The ICCAC announced the 2024 Division I Women's Golf All-Region Awards which included the Player of the Year and Coach of the Year honorees. 

Iowa Western took home both of the special awards in sophomore Baylie Pyke being named the 2024 Division I Women's Golf Player of the Year and Matt Robinson being voted the Coach of the Year. 

Pyke capped her 2024 season by winning the District Championship, becoming the third Reiver to do so since 2011. She joined Sena Ersoy (2016-17) and Luisa Gibson (2021-22) as the other Iowa Western women's golfers to accomplish the feat. 

Pyke held an adjusted scoring average of 75.7 for the season with 18 rounds played. She finished the season winning five of her last seven tournaments. The Iowa Western golfer started the season ranked 30th nationally, according to Clippd, and ended up as the 22nnd among NJCAA Division I Women's golfers. 

Reiver head coach Matt Robinson was named Coach of the Year after strong season. Iowa Western qualified for another National Tournament as a team with three golfers finishing in the top 10 at the District and four earning All-Region recognition. They were runner up at the Plains District Championship for the second-straight season.

In addition to Pyke four other players played their way onto the First Team All-Region list after the Plains District Championships.

Iowa Western made up four of the five First Team All-Region performers -- one of them being Charlie Maxwell. 

Maxwell came out of the District ranked 43rd in the nation according to Clippd. Maxwell during the Plains District Championship finished in sixth. She averaged 80.2 on the 16 rounds this season. Maxwell placed Top 10 in seven out of the nine tournaments in the 2024 season.

Another Reiver was Winne Hung who finished right behind Maxwell in the Plains District Championship in seventh. Hung has a 83.8 scoring average and ranked #78 nationally heading into the National Tournament. She recorded 18 rounds this season according to Clippd and finished Top 10 in four of ten tournaments played this season.

Rounding out the IWCC earners on First Team was Beatriz Pinheiro after placing 14th at the District. Pinheiro on the season held an average of 83.1 adjusted in the 18 rounds played for Iowa Western. Pinheiro finished Top 10 in ten events played this year for Robinson and the Iowa Western golf team.

Livi Tait was the lone golfer not from Iowa Western to make First Team All-Region. The Iowa Central sophomore, is currently ranked #60 in the nation and made First Team All-Region after placing 10th in the Plains District Championships. Tait, who shot 19-over-par in the Plains District Championships ended the season with a 82 scoring average playing in 14 stroke play events. Tait won one event and placed top three in six others over the course of the season.

She was one spot shy of earning a spot at the National Tournament as an individual.
