2024 Plains District Championship | Day 1 Results

DODGE CITY, Kan. - Iowa Western's Baylie Pike leads the Plains District Championship after the first 18 holes on Monday. The 2023 Plains District Champions has the lead heading into the final round of the 2024 Championships, and has Iowa Western in qualifying status as a team as well.

Pike, who shot a 1-over 72, leads Butpapaporn Sukterm of Barton County and Kaitlyn Crough of Dodge City by two strokes (+3, 73). She finished the day with four birdies and five bogies to go along with nine pars. Notably, of her four birdies, three of them came on Par 3s -- and on the back nine, she finished 1-under par.

Joining Pike in the Top 10 from the Reivers were Winnie Hung -- tied for 6th at 5-over -- and Charlie Maxwell who shot a 10-over 81 and is tied in 9th place. Iowa Western sits somewhat comfortably in second place, 19 strokes ahead of third place Barton County. Only the top two teams qualify automatically for the National Tournament. 

Of the top 5 finishers from the ICCAC, two performances on Day 1 came from DMACC in Erin Winker and Anne Van Hemert. Winker finished at +11, in 12th and Van Hemert was just one stroke back at +12.

Hawkeye's Chase Doland, Iowa Central's Liv Tait and Iowa Westerns Beatriz Pinheiro each finished in a tie for 15th at 13-over par.
