Iowa Western Wins Another Region XI Tournament Crown
ANKENY, IA-
Despite the rain and cold weather, another Women's Golf Region XI Tournament crown has been delivered. Due to weather, the fourth round of the event was cut short after playing nine full rounds. Heading into the final round of the Region XI Women's Golf Championship, Iowa Western held a 44-stroke lead on second place Iowa Lakes. There was little doubt that Iowa Western would be lifting the trophy for the ninth consecutive year. The Reivers cruised to their victory with a 55-stroke win over the Lakers. Iowa Western's win automatically guarantees them a spot at the NJCAA Women's Golf Championship in Daytona Beach, Florida on May 13-16, 2019.
Bianca Findlay from Southwestern earned the individual crown, finishing with an overall stroke of 275. Iowa Western's Lisa Lied was not far behind, finishing four back with 279.
Iowa Lakes also had great reason to celebrate. The Lakers qualified five golfers through the individual metric: Alexia Kemper, Abby Stender, Annika Dumoulin, Molly Diekman and Erin Baum. Stender led the Lakers with a final round score of 46 and 300 for the tournament.
15 golfers from the ICCAC will advance to the NJCAA championship. The five Iowa Western golfers qualify as a team and 10 additional golfers qualify for individual performances. The complete list of golfers heading to Daytona Beach can be found below.
