2024-25 ICCAC Women's Basketball Postseason Recognition Announced
March 5, 2025
The ICCAC Women's Basketball All-Region teams were selected and announced on Thursday after crowning two champions earlier in the week.
Kirkwood dominated the regular season and it showed in the postseason awards list taking three of the four special awards and placing six players on the All-Region list.
The ICCAC's Player of the Year was Jenna Twedt. Last year's Newcomer of the Year took the next step and was the top player on the top team this season. She was the league leader in the conference play, scoring 322 points in 18 games for a 17.9 average, second-highest among qualified players.
Twedt is a known sharpshooter, knocking down a league-best 65 threes in ICCAC competition at a 43.6% clip, second-best in the conference. Efficiently, she was top 10 in all three field goal percentage categories shooting 47.8% from the field (7th) and 84.1% from the line (3rd).
Along with her scoring, Twedt averaged 2.1 rebounds and 2.7 assists.
She becomes the third Eagle to win the award since it began in 2017-18, joining Tasia Jordan (2022-23) and Ashley Tull (2021-22).
Her teammate and fellow First Team selection was also tagged with Newcomer of the Year honors. Sophomore transfer Kaliyah Sain earned the honor Twedt did a year ago.
Sain was the team's second-leading scorer at 15.2 per game in conference play and was top 10 in field goals made (102), field goal percentage (50) and three-point percentage (39.2).
Rounding out the First Team selections from Kirkwood was sophomore forward Lizzy Puot. The Region 11-A Tournament MVP averaged 11.7 points in conference play and 12.4 on the season. She was seventh in the conference in rebounding at 7.5 per game and had the league's best field goal percentage making 57.4% of her shots.
Head Coach Kim Muhl was named the 2024-25 Coach of the Year after leading the Eagles to a perfect 18-0 conference record. It was the first time a team has gone undefeated in conference since 2022 when the Eagles went 20-0.
Kirkwood is on a 51-game winning streak heading into the District Championship and looking to repeat as NJCAA National Champions and third in the last four seasons.
This is Muhl's sixth Coach of the Year award since it began in 2017-18, and the fifth-straight year that he has received the honor.
Ellsworth placed two members of the First Team, making it the first time a Panther has received that honor since 2017 when Emily Ferrier was selected.
Ella Sharar and Marin Agustsdottir were the 2024-25 First Team selections for the Panthers after leading them to a runner up finish in the conference standings. Ellsworth won 25 games, their most since 1996.
Sharar led the Panthers in scoring at 13.1 points per game in conference play. She was also one of the league's top rebounders. At 7.9 per game she pulled down the third-most total rebounds in the league at 142.
Augustsdottir, the native Icelander, averaged 10.4 points per game and 2.6 rebounds per game.
Rounding out Ellsworth's top honors was sophomore forward Favour Nmecha Anyaele who was named the Defensive Player of the Year. Anyaele, a Second Team selection, led the league in rebounding at 9.3 per game and averaged just under three blocks per game at 2.8.
For the season, Anyaele averaged a double-double, 11.1 points and 10.2 rebounds in 30 games played.
NIACC also placed two players on the First Team in sophomore Tori Miller and freshman Reggi Spotts. The two helped lead the Trojans to the Region 11-B Championship on Monday.
Miller is the only other member on the First Team again from last season besides Twedt. She led NIACC in scoring at 15.6 per game, good for sixth in the conference. She was the ICCAC's top passer, dishing out a league best 86 assists in conference play.
Spotts averaged 13.9 points per game and was the ICCAC's most accurate three-point shooter making 44.7%.
In addition to Ellsworth and NIACC, Northeast had two First Team selections as well. Mia Wiederin and Aaliyah Jones powered Northeast to the Region 11-A Championship game before falling to Kirkwood.
Jones led the league in points per game at 18.5, 314 in 17 games. She was also second in steals with 55.
Wiederin was right behind Jones in the scoring column in third, posting 17.1 points per game. The Norfolk, Neb. native, also averaged 3.4 assists and 5.4 rebounds.
The final member of the ICCAC First Team was DMACC's Mary Walker. Walker led the Bears in scoring at 15.9 per game, fifth-most in the league. She was top 10 in field goals made (91) , three pointers made (37) and free throws made (67).
