ICCAC Sees Three First Team All-American Selections in Women's Basketball
The NJCAA announced the 2023-24 All-Americans for Women's Basketball on Tuesday with all three ICCAC players selected earning First Team status.
Iowa Western's McKenna Minter made the list to no surprise. Minter was First Team All-Region and named the ICCAC Division II Women's Basketball Player of the Year. The Iowa Western guard averaged 20.2 points a game in 37 games, taking Iowa Western to the NJCAA Quarterfinals.
Minter's 738 total points was most in the NJCAA this season, along with the second-most assists with 208. She was top 40 in rebounding as well with 238, 7.6 per game.
Additionally, Minter scored 30 or more points in five games this season and had two triple doubles. She became Iowa Western's first First Team selection since joining Division II and second All-American overall selection joining Aleshia Jones who was Third Team last season.
A pair of teammates joined the group in Kirkwood's Demetria Prewitt and Jenna Twedt of Kirkwood.
Last year's ICCAC Newcomer of the Year, Prewitt was the best team's best player in 2023-24. The sophomore posted averages of 15.6 points and 7.4 rebounds per game on 53.5% shooting from the field.
A two-time national champion, Prewitt was top 40 in the country in points (532), blocks (38), field goals made (224) and field goal percentage (53.5).
This year's ICCAC Newcomer of the Year, Twedt was one of the top shooters in the country. She was 12th in the country in three pointers made with 89 and was 3rd in the nation in free throw percentage (88.5%). The freshman averaged 14.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists on the season for the national champion Eagles.
Prewitt and Twedt became Kirkwood's fourth and fifth First Team All-American selections in the past three seasons joining Tasia Jordan (23), Ashley Tull (22) and Kortney Drake (22).
