Muhl Named DII Coach of the Year after Eighth Title

Charlotte, NC - Kirkwood (IA) head women's basketball coach Kim Muhl has been named the 2021-22 NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball Coach of the Year.
Muhl has been at the helm of the Eagles' squad for 33 seasons now and takes home the prestigious honor after earning the school's eighth national title. He led the team to an impressive 36-1 record, having spent eight combined weeks as the top-ranked team in Division II Women's Basketball and concluding the season on a 23-game winning streak. Kirkwood entered the national tournament as the top seed and enjoyed 20+ point victories in each of its first three games before defeating Morton, 49-44 in the title game.

"When you speak to any type of success and longevity in women's basketball, on any level, Coach Muhl should be considered the standard you are measuring against!"
Coach Muhl had three student-athletes earn honors during the 2021-22 season: three 2021-22 NJCAA DIII Women's Basketball All-Tournament Team members; Ashley Tull, Kortney Drake, and Tasia Jordan, Tournament Most Valuable Player; Tasia Jordan, and three ICCAC Playesr of the Week; Ashley Tull, Kortney Drake, and Dom Rodriguez. Muhl was named the Coach of the Tournament for the 2021-22 NJCAA DII Women's Basketball Championship.
In his time as head coach of Kirkwood women's basketball, Coach Muhl has compiled a 984-167 (.854) all-time record.
