Game of the Week (Iowa Western @ #11 DMACC)
Iowa Western was able to battle back in the second half against Division II's 11th-ranked DMACC Bears in Boone for a win.
DMACC had a great game plan and executed in the first half, taking a 33-26 lead into the locker room.
After halftime Iowa Western turned on the defense and stifled the DMACC attack, surrendering only 18 total points in the second half, and scored 37 of their own. The Reivers outscored DMACC by nine in the third quarter and 10 in the fourth to win the game, 63-51.
Gabriella Smith led the Reivers in the box score, putting up 17 points and seven rebounds. She was helped by Arielle McElroy who had 12 points and Geassy Germano who posted five points and 10 rebounds.
DMACC shot 29 percent from the field, hitting 16 of 56 field goal attempts. The Bears were 4-of-17 from three-point range and made 15 of 19 free throw attempts.
DMACC's Grace Flanagan led the Bears with 19 points and freshman Magan Christopherson had 12 points.
With the win Iowa Western, now 13-2 overall, capped off the season sweep of DMACC, winning the first matchup 90-57.
The Bears are 10-3 in ICCAC play and in second place among Division II schools in the standings, behind Kirkwood who is 13-10.
