Six ICCAC Players Make All-American Softball Teams
Six ICCAC Softball Players were named NJCAA Softball All-Americans on Tuesday, Two players from Division I & Four Players for Division II.
Division I:
Alex Stoner, Iowa Western, Designated Player, Third Team
Alex Stoner of Iowa Western hit .374 in 155 at-bats. Stoner hit 16 homeruns for the Reiver offense while also driving in 67 runs. Stoner also hit 11 doubles and a triple in the 55 games that she played this season. The Reiver sophomore ranked top-50 in home runs & runs batted in.
One of Stoner's best games came against Marshalltown where she went 2-2 with two home runs and 4 RBI.
Cydnee Schneider, Iowa Western, Catcher, Third Team
Iowa Western's Cyndee Schneider took home the last catcher spot on All-American taking a Third Team spot. Schneider was a monster at the plate, racking up a .509 batting average, 14 home runs, 66 RBI, 24 doubles, and drawing 26 walks. Schneider was no stanger among the top of the NJCAA leader board being top-10 in batting average and #12 in doubles in the NJCAA.
Schneider, primary catcher for the Reivers, caught 6 runners stealing in the 2023-24 season. Schneider also held a fielding percentage of .982 during the course of the Iowa Western season.
In one of the best single game performances of the season for the ICCAC hitters, Schneider recorded 3 home runs on 4 at-bats, and 7 RBI on March 1 in a game against North Central Missouri.
Division II:
Courtney Donahue, DMACC, First Team, Pitcher
ICCAC's Pitcher of the Year Courtney Donahue, from DMACC was named to the first team. The Bears ace in the circle was nothing short of spectacular during the 2024 season.
In 30 games started, she went 26-4 with an ERA of 0.94. 25 of those 26 wins were complete games this season. DMACC's pitcher threw 186.2 innings this season only giving up a total of 32 runs, 25 of which were earned for the sophomore Donahue ranked first in the NJCAA in strikeouts (386), third in ERA (0.90) and fourth in wins with 26.
From April 13 to May 5, Donahue started 10 games. In that stretch she threw five no hitters, racked up 101 strikeouts and allowed only two earned runs. Donahue had 15 games where she appeared and didn't allow a run.
Katy Olive, NIACC, First Team, Infield
Katy Olive was named ICCAC's Offensive Player of the Year. Olive is now a First Team All-American to go along with that. Olive this season ranked No. 1 in the NJCAA in stolen bases with 70 and third in home runs with 27. Olive also hit .472 this season for the Trojans. Olive's 81 RBI's puts her at #8 in the NJCAA. Olives slugging percentage of 1.000 also puts her among the top-10 in the NJCAA
Defensively, Olive made just eight errors on 142 chances for NIACC. Olive held a fielding percentage of .944 for the 2024 season.
One point during the season Olive recorded a hit in 19-straight games. Of those 19, 13 were multi-hit games.
Madisyn Kelley, NIACC, Second Team, Catcher
Madisyn Kelley was named to the All-American Second Team after posting a .491 batting average during the 2023-24 season. Kelley also hit 23 home runs which ranked 8th in the NJCAA for the Trojans this season. The NIACC Sophomore drove in 67 runs this past season placing her in the top 30 in the NJCAA.
Defensively, Kelley committed just four errors behind that plate for NIACC. Kelley threw out seven runners stealing over the course of the season. The Trojan's Kelley also only allowed six passed balls all season. Kelley ended the 2024 season with .989 fielding percentage.
Peyton Johnson, Kirkwood, Third Team, Outfield
Marion, Iowa's own Peyton Johnson was named Third Team All-American of the 2024 season. Johnson in 205 at bats hit .402 with a .446 on-base percentage. She also drove in 68 runs for the Eagles this season. Johnson was responsible for 43 extra-base hits for the Kirkwood offense over the course of the season.
On the other side of the ball Johnson was a wall for Kirkwood in the outfield. Johnson posted a perfect field percentage. In 107 total chances Kirkwood's Johnson didn't make a single error. Johnson collected 99 put-outs and seven assists.
