ICCAC Represented on NJCAA Softball All-American Teams
The NJCAA released the 2022 NJCAA Softball All-American lists for Divisions I and II on Tuesday with nine ICCAC players earning the honor.
Division I boasted four selections to the three team list. Indian Hills had two selections in ICCAC Player of the Year Destiny Lewis and ICCAC Offensive Player of the Year Sydney Anderson.
Lewis, a Second Team infield selection, played third base for the Warriors in her freshman season. She was one of the top producers in the country statistically and was in the top five in home runs (31), runs scored (94), RBI (90), slugging percentage (1.182) and total bases (214) and in the top 10 in doubles (25), batting average (.530) and on-base percentage (592).
Anderson was another power bat in the Indian Hills lineup. She matched Lewis in home runs with 31 and had 88 RBI along with 202 total bases. She was top 10 in runs (80) and slugging percentage (1.098).
Two Division I players were selected to the Third Team in Iowa Western's Camryn Milley and Marshalltown's Paige Westlin.
Milley was a designated player selection for the Reivers. She batted .380 with 20 home runs and 66 RBI for a team that won 41 games.
Westlin was the leader for the Tigers and received a selection at the utility spot. She hit .479 this year with 19 homers and 52 RBI.
The Division II side saw five selections, four from DMACC and one from Kirkwood.
DMACC had two First Team outfield selections in Kendal Clark and Jada Collins. Clark, a freshman, was one of the best hitters in the country. She was top 5 in runs (78), hits (90), homer runs (27) and led the nation in RBI (101), on-base percentage (.633), and slugging percentage (1.211).
Collins hit .497 with 90 hits as well. She had five homers, 65 RBI and 52 runs scored.
Joining Clark and Collins from the Bears were ICCAC Offensive Player of the Year Emma Dighton on Second Team and Abby Husak on Third Team. Dighton was up there in all categories with Clark. She led the nation in home runs with 28, was second in RBI behind Clark with 94 and third in total bases with 183. As a DP, she also threw 82.1 innings with a 3.57 ERA and 71 strikeouts.
Husak nearly hit .500 with a .497 average. She led the country in runs scored with 89. and had 8th most hits with 84. She walked 37 to put her OBP at .587, 8th best in NJCAA Division II.
Rounding out the 2022 All-American list was catcher Peggy Klingler of Kirkwood. Klinger bopped 20 homers and drove in 67 runs along with 56 runs scored. The 20 homers were 6th most in the country. A Third Team selection, it was the second year in a row Klinger earned the honor.
