2022 ICCAC Men's Cross Country Awards

The ICCAC released the 2022 All-Conference and All-Region performers for Men's Cross Country on Wednesday, headlined by the Athlete and Coach of the Year awards. 

Winning the Region 11 Championship race and earning the Division I Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Year honor was Yared Kidane of Iowa Central. The sophomore powered past his teammate and 2021 champion Aspel Kiprob to win the race. He finished with a time of 24:54.19 -- over a one-minute improvement on his 2021 race, and eight spots higher after finishing in ninth place. 

With NIACC's Melvin Kipkemboi graduating after a two-year stronghold of the Division II individual crown, Hawkeye's D'Artagnon Beaver seized the opportunity. With a time of 27:08.76, Beaver won the Division II regional championship -- in addition to helping Hawkeye to their first team title in school history. Beaver, now a two-time First Team performer, took second last season -- and is the 2022 Division II Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Year.

Iowa Central's Zander Cobb was a returning First Team performer this year in Division I. Brady Millikin of Indian Hills did not earn All-Region status his freshman year, but his growth this season surged him to a top five finish and a First Team All-Region performance. 

Coach of the Year awards went to Iowa Central's Dee Brown for Division I and the Division II award was split between Lucas Keifer of Southeastern and Corrine Gadient of Hawkeye. 

Gadient stepped into the interim head coach role mid-season after Tyler Mulder departed for a new position at St. Ambrose. She helped lead the RedTails to their first men's title in school history.
