ICCAC Cross Country Results | Week 7
Ottumwa, IA - Five men's and four women's teams from the ICCAC competed in the Indian Hills Invitational last Friday. The race was held at Cedar Creek Golf Course in Ottumwa with the women leading things off in a 5k and men following it up with their 8k.
Missouri Western led the way for the team race followed directly by Hawkeye. Rounding out the team standings was Iowa Western in third, Iowa Central finishing fourth, and Indian Hills coming in with a fifth place finish. Hawkeye had all of their runners finish in the Top-20, leading the way for the Redtails was freshman Ryann Portch with her time of 18:58.
Iowa Western had the individual champion even though they finished third in the team standings. Sophomore Faith Linga continued her dominance with the only sub-18 minute run of the day, turning in a time of 17:10.
Iowa Central and Indian Hills had a total of five top-25 runners in the 40-runner field. Freshman Shaunti Longfellow led the way for the Tritons finishing with an overall time of 20:54. The Warriors had their top runner, sophomore Shiggo Shadin finishing 16th with her time of 20:28.
On the men's side, Iowa Western took home the team title as the only team with four top-15 runners. Along with the individual champion, the Reivers had another podium finisher as well. The overall winner was freshman Yonus Mogos with a time of 24:45. Third overall was sophomore Kassim Kibet with his 25:11 performance.
The rest of the team standings had Iowa Central finishing second, NIACC in third, Missouri Western in fourth, Indian Hills turned in a fifth place finish, and Hawkeye and Highland turining in sixth and seventh, respectively.
The top individual finishers for the remaining ICCAC schools had Iowa Central freshman Hunter Klimek finsihing second with a 25:04.
NIACC and Indian Hills both had their top runners finishing in the top 10 with the Trojans top runner Melvin Kipkemboi turning in a 25:17 and the Warriors' Nick O'Connor finishing the race with his 25:56.
The Hawkeye Redtails had sixth place in both the team and individual as Sam Mickelson continued his great running with a total time of 25:25.

Looking Ahead-- The next event featuring a majority of teams from the ICCAC will be on Nov. 1 at the Region XI Championship in Fort Dodge with Iowa Central playing host.
