The women's side has three schools within the top 25, Iowa Western Indian Hills, and Iowa Central. However it is the Reivers who have been on the attack since day one. They currently sit at #2 in the NJCAA rankings just behind New Mexico.
Indian Hills and Iowa Central are packed in the middle as the Warriors are ranked 14th and the Tritons at 16th. Notably, the Tritons won the Outdoor Regional last season.
For the Reivers, it's been a team effort to remain high in the ranking and their consistent results are a big reason as to why. Sophomore Mercy Honesty leads the nation in the Triple Jump with a 12.83 mark. She is also a part of the first ranked 4x100 Meter Relay team who has clocked in at 45.39 seconds.
Freshman Barbara Neiva remains constant in every event she participates in. She ranks eighth in the 5,000 Meter, fourth in the 10,000 Meter, and third in the 3000 Steeplechase. In the relay events, the Reivers rank first in the 4x100 and second in the 4x400. In all of the field events, Iowa Western has nine athletes ranked inside the top 10.
Indian Hills competes quite well in the short distance races, as the Warriors have six members inside the top 12 in the 100, 200, and 400 Meters. Inside the 200, the Warriors have three runners tied for ninth place with a time of 24 seconds; Adalin Robinson, Oarabile Tshosa, and Shanice Cox. Robinson ranks second in the 400 with a time of 53.81 seconds, only 0.68 seconds from first place.
Some of Iowa Central's best marks and times have come from hurdle events and the Javelin Throw. In the 100 Meter Hurdles both Dayvione Briggs and Abigail Frey rank inside the top 20, while in the 400 Meter Hurdles they both rank inside the top 15, with Briggs standings in seventh.
Rowland Kirton-Browne sits in ninth with a throw of 39.01 mark in the Javelin Throw. Her teammate Tina Samson, ranks 12th, with a mark of 38.12. Samson is also the favorite to win the Heptathlon -- she recently won the Drake Relays setting person-best score.
