2021 Outdoor Track & Field All-Region & Special Awards
The 2021 ICCAC Outdoor Track & Field All-Region performances were defined during last week's Region XI Championships in Council Bluffs. On Friday, the ICCAC announced the 2021 Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes and Coaches of the Year.
Iowa Western swept the women's awards after winning their second straight Region XI Championship, dating back to 2019.
Sprinter Nickisha Pryce was voted the Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year. Price, who also won the award for the indoor season, was a First Team All-Region performer taking first place in the 200 meter, 400 meter and 4x100 meter relay.
To date, she has the #1 time in the country in the 400 at 53.41 and the second fastest 200 at 23.33.
The Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year was Victory George. George was the region champion in the long jump and the triple jump. She ranks second in the country in both events, and set a Region XI Championship record of 6.31 meters in the long jump while setting a PR in the triple jump at 12.62 meters.
Iowa Western's Douglas Marshall was named Women's Outdoor Track & Field Coach of the Year. As mentioned, he led the Reivers to their second consecutive Region XI title with a 120-point victory over second place Iowa Central.
Reiver athletes won 12 of the 22 events scored at the Region XI Championships.
On the men's side, Indian Hills Damoy Allen was tagged as the Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year. Allen was a part of two Warrior relay teams that set school records in the 4x100 meter relay and 4x400 meter relay this season. Both teams are ranked in the top 4 of the NJCAA heading into nationals.
Individually, Allen is in the top 20 for both the 100 meter and the 200 meter and won the open 200 at the 2021 Drake Relays in the college division.
In the field, Iowa Central's Aries Scott earned Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year. Doing it all, Scott won the decathlon and the high jump events at the Region XI Championships and finished runner up in the pole vault and long jump. He also had a top five finish in the 400-meter hurdles.
Scott set personal bests in eight of the 10 events of the decathlon at regionals. He is top 5 in the country in the long jump and #3 in the decathlon.
Rounding out the special awards was Indian Hill's Brent Ewing who was voted Men's Outdoor Coach of the Year. The Warriors finished in third place at the Region XI Championships, but have seen Warrior records break left and right this season.
They had 16 all-region performers this season, compared to 7 in 2019. They had three region champion performances in the 800 meter, 4x100 meter relay and 4x400 meter relay.
