2024 All-Region | Division II Men's Soccer
The 2024 All-Region selections and special awards from Division II Men's Soccer were released after the ICCAC showcased some of the nation's top teams and talent.
Appearing at the top of the regular season standings at season's end was Northeast, which earned them the most selections to First Team All-Region.
After another year, Northeast forward Edouard Nys proved once again to be the most valuable earning ICCAC Division II Men's Soccer Player of the Year for the second consecutive year.
Now a sophomore, Nys increased his goals and assists from last season and ranks first in multiple categories within the NJCAA. With 29 goals he is tied for best and he sits atop the leaderboard alone with 25 assists. Nys is 17 points ahead of his nearest competition with 83 on the season.
In 21 games played so far Nys has managed to provide a goal contribution in 20 of the 21 competitions that Northeast has played.
Nys was the first of four selections for the Hawks and joining him were Ludovico Vicini, Lewis Rourke and Tobias Gerber.
In his freshman season Vicini has collected 18 assists while playing in the defense. Those assists are good for second-best in the NJCAA this year behind only Nys.
Rourke made First Team All-Region last year and earned the honor in his sophomore season as well. He has tallied 17 goals with seven assists in the 2024 season with the national tournament still yet to be played.
The Hawks final selection to First Team All-Region was midfielder Gerber. Gerber started 20 of the 21 games in his freshman season and provided four goals and four assists to his team.
Iowa Lakes earned three selections to First Team All-Region after finishing second in the conference standings. However, the Lakers were the Region 11 Tournament Champions and their 2024 selections were striker Kasper Wollstein, midfielder Garbhan Feeney and defender Florent Lefebvre.
Freshman Wollstein and Lefebvre made their impact known throughout the season. Wollstein led the Lakers in goal contributions with 28. Lefebvre played solid defense while providing seven assists.
Feeney sits No. 3 in the NJCAA in assists with 17, just behind Northeast's Vicini.
Western Iowa Tech and Southeastern each placed two players on First Team All-Region.
From Southeastern, Juan Lagares and Timeo Cordiez are the selections. Captaining his team this season, Lagares had 21 goals and was eighth in the NJCAA in points with 48. Cordiez scored eight goals and provided five assists.
Western Iowa Tech selected defender Matias Garcia Castilla and defensive midfielder Ryder Delport. Both players played deeper roles and played great defense while providing assists. They lead the Comets to the No. 3 seed of the Region 11 Tournament in just their second season of competition.
Rounding out the sections were four individuals from four different schools: Anders Lauridsen from Hawkeye, Edgar Salazar Bueanano from Iowa Central, Matheus Da Silva from Marshalltown and Edoardo Alessandrini from NIACC.
To wrap up the top honors this season, Adam Potter from Northeast was voted ICCAC Division II Men's Soccer Coach of the Year for the third consecutive season. The Hawks are 18-1-2 on the season and had a perfect 9-0 conference record. They earned an at-large bid to the National Tournament and will look to go the distance after falling in the semifinals a season ago. The Hawks have now reached their fourth-straight national tournament and under Potter have solidified themselves as a traditional power.
