Potter tabbed as next head men’s soccer coach at Northeast

NORFOLK, Neb. – Northeast Community College Director of Athletics Jerrett Mills officially announced the hiring of Adam Potter as the next head men's soccer coach on Friday.
"We couldn't be more excited to announce Coach Adam Potter as the next head men's soccer coach at Northeast," Mills said. "From his knowledge of the game, recruiting and strong core values is what sets Coach Potter apart, making him a rising star in this profession. He has the qualities and tools to build on a strong foundation at Northeast. The future is bright for the men's soccer program."
Potter joins the Hawks after a successful stint as the assistant coach at Casper College in Casper, Wyo. He played an integral part in helping start the men's soccer team in 2020 at Casper, leading the Thunderbirds to an 11-2 record in his first season and a 10-6-1 record this season.
"I am honored and humbled by this fantastic opportunity to become the next head coach of the Northeast men's soccer program," Potter said. "I would like to thank Northeast Vice President of Student Services Amanda Nipp and Director of Athletics Jerrett Mills and the search committee for their time, consideration and confidence in me to lead such a great program. I am excited and looking forward to the opportunity to put this program on the national map of college soccer. I can't wait to get started working with the student-athletes, Northeast community and the City of Norfolk."
The Orland Park, Ill., native also served as the assistant coach for three seasons at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa where he helped the Red Raiders reach three 10-plus win seasons. He also helped lead Northwestern to their best season in 15 years with a 12-6-2 record and a second-place finish in the Great Plains Athletic Conference.
Prior to Northwestern, Potter was the head coach for Tempe Prep in Tempe, Ariz., where his team went 33-13 in three seasons. They reached the state tournament for the first time in school history under Potter during the 2015-16 season. Potter was named the 2016-17 '13A' Arizona Coach of the Year.
Potter was a standout student-athlete at Northwestern earning a bachelor's degree and later a Master's degree in teacher leadership.
After serving as the head coach for both programs, coach Chad Miller will assume responsibilities of the women's soccer program effective immediately.
