ICCAC Spring Preview | Men's Golf
The ICCAC saw both its Division I and Division II teams defend their District Championships in 2024 with impressive performances. Both teams triumphed in dominant fashion against stiff competition, and the 2025 season promises to be just as, if not more, competitive.
Division I Preview: Indian Hills and Iowa Western both qualified for the National Championship Tournament in 2024. As defending National Champions, the Indian Hills Warriors finished eighth, with standout golfers Gaspar Glaudas and Jose Carletta earning second-team All-American honors, finishing eighth and ninth, respectively. Heading into the 2025 season, the Warriors are ranked No. 6 nationally. They will be led by two talented freshmen who averaged an impressive 71.8 over 18 holes in the fall season. A key returning player for the Warriors is Emilio Arellano, currently ranked as the No. 6 golfer in the NJCAA.
Iowa Western, which tied for 18th at the 2024 National Championship, is currently ranked No. 17 in the nation. The Reivers have a youthful roster in 2025, primarily made up of freshmen, but they will rely on Nick Slobbe, their top performer from 2025, to bring much-needed experience to the team.
Division II Preview: Nine ICCAC teams will compete in Division II this season, with Kirkwood emerging as the favorite -- they've won every District since 2015. The Eagles are coming off a standout 2024 season, which saw them produce an individual national champion and finish as runners-up in the National Championship.
Northeast and Iowa Central are expected to be the main challengers for the top spot in the conference and districts this year. The Hawks, ranked No. 10, and the Tritons, ranked No. 13, both had strong fall seasons, positioning them as serious contenders to dethrone Kirkwood.
Behind them, No. 18 Hawkeye returns all three of their top performers from last year's district competition, adding to their strong presence this season. Tied for 5th in the preseason conference polls, Iowa Lakes and DMACC both enter the season ranked in the top 30. Both teams are bolstered by a mix of experienced sophomores and promising freshmen.
The nine Division II teams are rounded out by NIACC, Southwestern, and Southeastern. Although these teams faced challenges in 2024, they are focused on improving as they work toward a more successful 2025 season.
