2024 North Central District Championship | Day 1 Results

WATERLOO, Iowa - Kirkwood holds a two-stroke lead over DMACC after the first 36 holes of play at the North Central District Championships in Waterloo. The Eagles were led by a trio of golfers who found themselves in the top five and within five shots of the lead after Day 1.

Frank Haege finished even-par after 36 holes. He shot a 2-under 70 in Round 1 and a 74 in Round 2. He was joined by Nate Offerman and Nathan Bratanata who are tied at 2-over, one spot behind Haege.

DMACC sits right behind the Eagles, in great position heading into the last round. Drew Teeter leads all golfers after a 3-under performance. He was even through 18, then shot a Day 1 low 3-under 69 on the second go-by. He jumped up the board six spots from round 1. Teammates Spencer Clatt (T11) and Calvin McNeeley (T19) are each inside the top 20 for the Bears.

Northeast had a hot start and sits in a tie for third place at 18-over, while Iowa Central is right behind and in the mix at 19-over. A tight race with Southeast Neb. (also at +18) considering there are only three team spots to go around when qualifying for the national tournament. 

Iowa Central's Nico Booyens shot the second-lowest Day 1 total of 1-under par. He was the only other golfer besides Teeter to finish with a 69 in either round. Bailey Doe leaped into the top 10 after a second round 2-under 70. Doe jumped 16 spots after a 77 in the first round. 

Looking at Northeast's day -- they were consistent across the board. Four players are tied at 13 at 5-over par after 36. Brett Leonard, Gunther Soltvedt, Tyler Baumchen and Gage Burns all ended with 149 strokes through two rounds. Soltvedt, Baumchen and Burns went 75 & 74 while Leonard went 76, 73. 

Outside of the ICCAC's top four, Kaeden Anderson of Hawkeye was the highest placing individual at +4, tied for 11th. 

Tee times will begin at 10:00 a.m. for the final 18 holes on Tuesday.
