Indian Hills Wins Program's Sixth National Title

LUBBOCK, TX— Indian Hills braved multiple weather delays on the final two days of the NJCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship at Rawls Course in Lubbock, TX to walk away with the program's sixth team national title.

Tied for first with ICCAC foe Iowa Western entering the third round the Warriors finished as the only squad with an under-par team score in every round, helping them to pull away to what would ultimately be a nine-stroke win over the Reivers. 

Despite reaching the halfway point of the tournament tied for first place, Iowa Western still walks away with a program-best second place finish nationally. Joel Durnford won the individual title, finishing 15-under par with a four-round tally of 273. This marks the second consecutive year an ICCAC golfer has taken home the individual title. Last year, Indian Hills' Ricky Sanders won it with a score of 283, finishing as the only individual golfer under par.

This year 15 golfers finished even or under par, including Sanders, who finished in second with a score of 279. Warrior teammates Joe Kim (-5), Julien Sale (-4), George Clarke (E) all finished at or under par, too. Indian Hills' first-year head coach Nathan Weant was given the Delnor Poss Division I Coach of the Year award following the tournament.

Albert Nilsson (-3) and Tom Westenberger (-1) both finished with All-American performances for Iowa Western.
