Ten players Represent ICCAC in the Rising All-Stars Event
From the ICCAC, there will be 10 players who will make their way to Council Bluffs for the Rising All-Stars Event that goes through July 14-16.
The ICCAC will have 10 players from six schools making their way to the NJCAA Rising Stars - Class of 2024 event this weekend in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The second-annual Rising Stars Event has a total of 62 selections and will be held July 14-16 on Iowa Western's campus.
Both Angelo Winkel and James Glenn of DMACC were selected for the Rising Stars Weekend. Winkel averaged 12.5 points and 6.7 rebounds during the 2023 season for the Bears. He started all 32 games and shot 54% from the field.
Glenn did not play this past season due to injury and redshirted for the year. The prior year, Glenn did average 4.1 points and 1.8 assists in 36 games.
Three of the 10 players from the ICCAC come from Indian Hills. Trevion LaBeaux, Davontae Hall, and David Hermes will all make the trip to Council Bluffs.
LaBeaux put together a nice season averaging 7.3 points per game and 4.5 rebounds, while shooting 52.2 percent from the floor. An NJCAA All-Region 11 performer as a freshman, LaBeaux averaged 10.0 points and 6.5 rebounds in Indian Hills' four postseason games.
Hall appeared in 33 games, averaging 4.3 points per game to go along with 2.0 rebounds per game and 1.3 assists. Hall went for a career-high 23 points in a win over Kansas City Kansas Community College on January 7th.
Hermes at 6'10 played 14 games as a true freshman and earned MVP honors at the JA48 East event in Atlanta, Georgia.
Kirkwood also had a pair of players receive invitations -- Ayouba Berthe and Marcus Glover.
Berthe averaged 9.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game. He shot 43% from the field and scored in double figures 13 different times.
The Chicago native, Glover, averaged 5.6 points and 5.1 rebounds as a freshman. Glover played in 30 games this past season where 10 times he grabbed seven or more rebounds.
Deuce Blake of Iowa Central had a well-rounded freshman season in 2023.
Blake averaged 8.1 points and 2.6 rebounds in 18 games of action. He shot 35.6% from deep and was the second highest scoring guard on Iowa Central. On February 4th against DMACC, Blake had a career high 23 points, along with a career high six three-pointers.
Sam West will join the NJCAA Rising Stars after a solid freshman campaign. At 6'4 in the forward position, West averaged 6.4 points and 5 rebounds in 34 games played. He had 10 games where he scored in double digits and eight games where he grabbed four or more offensive rebounds.
Donavan Seamster is the newest member of Iowa Western, transferring this summer from Allen. As a freshman, he averaged 7.7 points and 1.7 rebounds in his 31 games. He scored in double digits 12 times and had eight games when he made four or more threes. Between Dec. 3 and Jan. 14, Seamster was averaging 17.2 points per game.
Players will arrive on Friday evening and begin competing on Saturday -- the first of nine games on Saturday and Sunday is set for 12:00 p.m on July 15.
