Iowa Lakes Community College Men's Basketball was selected as the National Association of Basketball Coaches Team of the Week for January 7-13. The latest poll (Jan. 15) has the Lakers ranked No. 16, the team has a mid-season record of 12-4.
Led by head coach Troy Larson, Iowa Lakes captured a pair of road victories last week, beating Division I opponent Iowa Western 80-74 on Tuesday before outlasting 17th-ranked DMACC Bears, 85-80, on Saturday. The Lakers' strong defense forced a combined 32 turnovers in the two matchups. Iowa Lakes is now 12-4 overall and 3-0 in ICCAC play. The four losses the Lakers have suffered so far this year have come to Division I NJCAA teams.
Iowa Lakes is led by three players offensively; freshman, Kevin Jennings (14.9 PTS/G) and two sophomores, Soloman Clayton (12.4 PTS/G) and Equan Ards (14.9 PTS/G).
They are currently in second place in the conference.
