2023 ICCAC Fall Preview | Football

ICCAC Football returns this fall for the 2023 season. Arriving back on the field is the reigning National Champions Iowa Western. Iowa Central and Ellsworth are back as well with both the Tritons and Panthers looking to improve from last year.

The Reivers and Coach Strohmeier head into the new season after going 10-2 and defeating Hutchinson (Kan.) to become National Champions. Iowa Western did lose some major pieces on defense -- but they are right in the middle of a program peak after two National Championship game appearances in the past two seasons.

Iowa Central and Ellsworth look to capitalize on better seasons this year, but in different ways.

The Tritons had a solid year last season but can really break through with QB Justin Silverstein back for another season. Iowa Central has been right in the mix, with a majority of their losses the past several seasons all coming to teams who have made the NJCAA Playoff. Overcoming that obstacle would put them in the conversation.

Ellsworth was unable to come away with a victory last year, going 0-10 overall. The Panthers will look at this season as a stepping stone for better years under second year Head Coach Kory Vaught. An expanded coaching staff and roster revamp should give Ellsworth a leg up from 2022.
