The NJCAA released the 2019 NJCAA Football All-American teams, and the ICCAC had a great showing. Fifteen players were selected across the three teams made up of 75 total players.
Five players received First Team All-America recognition, including Iowa Western's running back ZaQuandre White. White finished second in the NJCAA in yards per game with 109 in eight games played. Four times he eclipsed 130 yard yards or more, including a 245 yard performance against Iowa Central in Week 2.
Fellow Reivers joining White on First Team were 2019 ICCAC Defensive Player of the Year Devin Drew and defensive back Marcus Haskins. Drew led the Iowa Western defense who established themselves as one of the best in the coutnry by years' end. He racked up 58 tackles and 9.5 sacks, 12th most in the NJCAA.
Haskins was a ballhawk for the Iowa Western defense. His seven inteceptions were tied for second most in the NJCAA.
Other Reivers to receive All-American recognition were offensive lineman Jacob Gamble (Second Team), kicker Chase Contrarez (Second Team), linebacker Averie Habas (Honorable Mention) and defensive lineman Dominic Quewon (Honroable Mention).
Iowa Central provided two players to the First Team -- offensive lineman Rich Rodriguez and linebacker Daquan Cross.
Rodriguez, a freshman offensive lineman, helped pave the way for a ground attack that averaged almost 160 yards rushing per game. Overall, Iowa Central averaged 370.5 yards of offense and just under 30 points, including a win in The Graphic Edge Bowl over Nassau.
Cross, a sophomore linebacker, led Iowa Central's defense with 81 tackles and was tagged with Defensive MVP honors against Nassau in the 2019 The Graphic Edge Bowl. He was a Honorable Mention selection in 2018.
Other notable selections were Iowa Central's quarterback Demarcus Irons Jr. Irons Jr., the 2019 ICCAC Offensive Player of the Year. led the NJCAA in passing efficiency and was named to the 2019 Honorable Mention All-American team.
Iowa Central's Eugene Brown (Second Team Linebacker) , Rashad Witty (Second Team Return Specialist), and Tenarious Achan (Honorable Mention Wide Receiver) were also tagged with 2019 honors.
Ellsworth received two selection in 2019. Both Honorable Mention selections, offensive lineman Caden Coulson and defensive lineman Jacob Poetzl took home the award.
