Match of the Week: #6 Kirkwood @ #20 DMACC

#20 DMACC took down #6 Kirkwood in three sets on Wednesday. The Bears came into the match 4-1 in conference play and 14-4 on the season. The Eagles were undefeated in conference play at 5-0 and 17-3 on the season. DMACC came out of the gates hot, winning the first set 25-13 racking up 16 kills in the set. Kirkwood had only 6 kills in the 30 attempts in the first set.

The Bears continued the dominance in the second and third set converting on over 30% of their kills in the last two sets. DMACC was led by Coryl Matheny with 10 kills and 13 digs in the contest. Sophomore Emma Flathers led the Bears in assists with 39 and contributed four ace serves. Another sophomore Kenya Prescott led DMACC in digs with 18 during the three-set sweep.

Kirkwood was outscored 75-47 during the match and did not each 20 points in either set. A tough game for the Eagles as now both teams along with Iowa Central are tied for first place in the conference standings.
