NJCAA Announces 2019 Volleyball All-Americans

There were nine ICCAC volleyball players announced as NJCAA All-Americans in 2019 after their outstanding performances this season. The selections were announced on Wednesday. 

On the Division I side, it was Indian Hills and Iowa Western collecting the nominations.

Mariana Rodrigues represented the Warriors of Indian Hills. Rodrigues, a sophomore from Brazil received First team All-American honors, All-Region and was named 2019 ICCAC Division I Player of the Year. She was 6th in the NJCAA in kills with 553 and was second on her squad in digs, ending her Indian Hills career with 426. Her power helped Indian Hills to their first national tournament since 2005. 

Iowa Western placed two member on the 2019 All-American team. Last year's ICCAC Division I Player of the Year, Genesis Sheridan was honored for her outstanding play this year landing on the First team All-American list. Sheridan, after her terrific season last year, improved in all major categories. She had 20 more kills (361), 35 more digs (95), all in five less matches played. She had the 13th-highest hitting percentage in the country at .378. The Reivers finished in 5th place at the National Tournament. 

Alongside Sheridan receiving honors was Waco, Texas native, Kortlyn Henderson. Henderson was named to the Second Team. Henderson had the fourth most kills in the country with 569, fifth most per set at 4.31. Henderson was also named to the NJCAA All-Tournament team, the lone ICCAC representative on the All-Tournament team. 

In Division II, Iowa Central led the ICCAC teams in selections with two. Weston Ranch High School alum, Amaya Finley had a tremendous year. She collected some hardware, earning ICCAC Division II Player of the Year, First Team All-Conference, First Team All-Region, and All-Tournament team. Finley led the conference in kills (585) and kills per set (4.03). That landed her fourth in the NJCAA in kills. 

Rounding out the players from Iowa Central is freshman, Kealey Anderson. Anderson was second on her team in kills behind Finley with 556. Her kills total was 6th best nationally. Joining her teammate, Anderson received honors from the ICCAC including, First Team All-Conference, First Team All-Region, and All-Tournament team. 

The Trojans of NIACC had one player chosen, sophomore hitter Kennedy Meister. Meister, received First team All-American status after finishing fifth in the nation in kills with 581 and she recorded 573 digs which was a team high and top 40 in the nation. 

Northeast's Josie Sanger earned Second Team All-American honors finishing her impressive freshman year with the Hawks. Sanger was fifth in the nation in digs with 810. She helped lead Northeast to their fourth consecutive NJCAA National Tournament. 

On Honorable Mention was Kirkwood's Anna Gorsich. The Eagle's freshman outside hitter came on strong as the season progressed. She ended with 11th most kills in the country with 501. She was named to both the NJCAA Division II All-Tournament team and was the Region XI-A Tournament MVP. She finished the year with eight straight matches of 10 kills or more, in which the Eagles went 7-1 and finished in 9th place at Nationals.

Rounding out ICCAC's selections was DMACC's sophomore middle hitter Amber Dilsaver. In 2019, Dilsaver finished in the top 12 in kills in Division II with 488. She was named to the ICCAC First Team All-Conference team as well.
