Region XI Sending Four Teams to Nationals

After a successful weekend, four teams will represent the ICCAC in the 2019 NJCAA Division I and Division II Volleyball Championships.

In Division I, Iowa Western and Indian Hills each won two matches in Illinois on Saturday to win their respective Midwest District Tournaments.

Iowa Western moved out of Midwest A with wins over Vincennes (25-20, 25-21, 25-21) and District host, John A. Logan (25-20, 25-13, 25-17). The Reivers won both matches in straight sets to advance to their 14th consecutive NJCAA National Tournament.

Indian Hills, who shared the regular-season conference championship, headed to Mattoon, Ill. for the Midwest B Championships. The Warriors rolled through Lake Land and Missouri-West Plains in straight sets to win the District. With the win, Indian Hills returns to the National Tournament for the first time since 2005.

Northeast already punched their ticket to the Division II National Tournament after they upset NIACC in the Region XI-B Tournament. The Hawks were gifted an automatic bid when Kirkwood (No. 4 Seed) upset Iowa Central to leave Northeast (No. 3 Seed) as the highest-seeded champion between the two regional tournaments.

With the win over Iowa Central, Kirkwood represented Region XI in the North Central B District Championship. On Saturday, they faced the 15-23 Metropolitan Community College Wolves. The Eagles handled the Wolves in three sets to advance to their second consecutive NJCAA Tournament. It is the sixth time in 15 years under coach Jill Williams.
