Division I Conference Standings

Indian Hills (14-14; 2-2) def. Marshalltown (28-5; 0-4), 3-1

Indian Hills won 3-1 at Marshalltown on Tuesday night, clinching them a spot in the District K Tournament as the Region XI-B representative. It would have taken a monumental performance by the Tigers to propel them into the post-season. With their loss earlier in the season to Indian Hills, the Tigers would have had to have held the Warriors 65 points or less.

Marshalltown came out with a purpose and won the first set 26-24. But, the Warriors rebounded and won the next three sets (25-18, 25-21, 25-20). Laisa Telles Maeda had a huge night for the Warriors with 44 assists, with 33 of them coming to Mariana Rodrigues and Cecilia Campos, the teams' kills leaders. Rodrigues also had 13 digs for a double-double performance.

For the Tigers, Elena Yee had 13 kills and Marija Egic had 10. Jelena Dukic had 28 assists.

Indian Hills will await their destination based upon the Region XVI Tournament results from the Oct. 27. The favorite in Region XVI is Mineral Area, who is ranked in the top 10 with a record of 22-3. The Warrior has five matches between now and then to tune up.

The Tigers have six matches to go in 2018, which is their most successful season to date. With 28 wins, the Tigers will likely end up with over 30 total wins, 50% more than their total last season of 20.

Division II Conference Standings

 #8 Iowa Central (26-9; 8-0) def. NIACC (19-13; 2-6), 3-1

Iowa Central continued their winning ways and cemented their No. 1 overall seed in the Region XI-A tournament with a win over NIACC on Wednesday night. The Tritons and Trojans split the first two sets with 25-18 (ICCC) and 25-23 (NIACC). The Tritons then took control in the third set winning 25-21 and capping the match off with a 25-16 fourth set win.

Iowa Central only had nine players play in the game. With that, Libby Zorn and Amaya Finley paced the Tritons offensively racking up 15 kills and 14 kills. Finley also had 20 digs. Kryssie Okinaka, the conference leader in digs, collected 27 more on the night. Abby Lohrmann had 39 of the teams 40 assists.

NIACC gave a great team effort, with three members finishing with 10 or more kills; Hannah Wagner (19), Kennedy Meister (13) and Sarah Kimberly (10). They were also all over the place defensively with four players in double-digit digs, really making the Tritons work for their points. Connor Gauch had 21, Meister had 18, Wagner had 16 and Sydney Roush had 11.

Iowa Central will face DMACC in the final match of the year in Fort Dodge. NIACC will go to Estherville to finish their regular season against Iowa Lakes, and with a win, can clinch a playoff spot.

BOX SCORE

#20 Northeast (16-11; 7-1) def. #11 Hawkeye (16-6; 6-2), 3-0

Northeast was no-nonsense on Wednesday night as they hosted Hawkeye in a battle for outright second place in the ICCAC standings.  The Hawks dominated the first two sets winning 25-13 in both, then completed the sweep in a competitive third set, which the RedTails pushed Northeast to the brim but ultimately stumbled 26-24.

Northeast now sits alone in second place at 7-1 with one game remaining. The Hawks will host Kirkwood on Tuesday, Oct. 23 in the season finale. A win would guarantee Northeast second place.

Hawkeye is now in a tie for third with DMACC, however, hold the tie-breaker over the Bears with their 3-1 in Week 2. They finish the season at Southeastern next Wednesday.

BOX SCORE

#13 Kirkwood (29-7; 5-3) def. Ellsworth (2-29; 0-8), 3-0

Kirkwood made quick work of Ellsworth on Wednesday night, winning in straight sets. Not only did the Eagles sweep the Panthers, but the did it in efficient fashion, allowing just 35 points. Kirkwood set the tone in the first set with a 25-10 result. They followed that up with set wins of 25-13 and 25-12.

Abbi Tunis led Kirkwood in kills with 10. Alexa Aldrich-Ingram and Maddie Huff had 9 and 8 kills, respectively. Lauren Keane assisted her teammates 28 times. Defensively, Maddie Lavenz had 10 digs and Chloe McNeese had 13.

Kirkwood finishes the season with Northeast in Norfolk on Tuesday, Oct. 23. Ellsworth, now eliminated from post-season contention, wraps up in Creston against Southwestern with hopes of ending the season on a high note.

BOX SCORE

RV DMACC (23-10; 6-2) def. Southwestern (14-19; 2-6), 3-0

DMACC cruised to another sweep last night over Southwestern, the third time in their last four conference games they have done so. The Bears haven't lost a conference match since they fell to Northeast back on Sept 12, 3-0.

Bears were led by Amber Dilsaver who knocked 14 kills and Peyton Parker who parked 12 kills. Madison Paulsen had six kills and six digs while Gillian Tupper had 34 assists and 10 digs.

DMACC won all three sets by the score of 25-14.

DMACC will head to Fort Dodge for their final contest against Iowa Central. The Bears will finish in either third or fourth in the conference, pending next week's results.

Southwestern finishes the season at Ellsworth. The Spartans clinch a post-season birth with a win or an Iowa Lakes loss.

Southeastern (21-14; 3-5) def. Iowa Lakes (9-28; 1-7), 3-0

A win by Iowa Lakes would have caused a log jam for 6th-9th place in the standings, with four teams at 2-6. Southeastern prevented that from happening with a 3-0 sweep of the Lakers.

Southeastern clinched their post-season birth and depending on next week's results could secure the sixth seed with a win over Hawkeye, or find themselves in a tie-breaker with NIACC (won 3-2), Southwestern (lost 3-1) or both.

Iowa Lakes must win to keep any post-season hopes alive in their final match against NIACC. If the Lakers can beat the Trojans, and Southwestern wins over Ellsworth, they would win the head-to-head tie-breaker with NIACC. With a win and a Southwestern loss, there would a be a three-way tie looming.
