Division I Conference Standings

#3 Iowa Western (26-2; 4-0) def. Marshalltown (25-4; 0-3), 3-0

Iowa Western swept Marshalltown on Tuesday night in the lone Division I match and the last of the season for Iowa Western.

The Reivers were dominant, holding the Tigers to just 13 kills in the match and outscored them 75-37. Hina Pua'a had 28 assists for the Reivers while Morgan Bossler and Alyssa Oswald led the team with eight kills each.

As for Marshalltown, they face Indian Hills this coming Tuesday. They have some work to do in order to earn the Region 11-B spot in the District K Tournament. The Tigers will need to win the match and hold Indian Hills to 65 total match points or less to win the tie-breaker. If Indian Hills were to score 66 points in a loss, it would come down to a coin toss on who would advance.

Division II Conference Standings

 #8 Iowa Central (22-8; 7-0) def. #12 Kirkwood (25-6; 4-3), 3-2

Iowa Central remained undefeated in conference play after edging Kirkwood, 3-2. The match was one of the best of the season in the ICCAC. The Eagles jumped out to a 1-0 lead after taking the first set 25-20. The home team, Iowa Central, then countered back taking the second set 25-19. Kirkwood took charge of the match after the pivotal third set which they won again, 25-20. But with their backs against the wall, the Tritons rebounded and dominated the fourth set 25-13.

The fifth and final set did not disappoint. In a race to 15, neither team could create a two-point separation by that mark. But Triton outside hitter Libby Zorn scored the four final points for Iowa Central to give them a 19-17 edge and a 3-2 win.

Iowa Central was led by Zorn, who had 19 kills and Amaya Finley, who had a huge match, 21 kills and 25 digs. Hannah Murray also had seven kills and 25 digs.

Kirkwood battled and was led by the conference's kills leader Alexa Aldrich-Ingram, who added 30 more kills to her season total. Haleigh Durnin and Abbi Tunis each had 13 kills. Lauren Keane finished with 46 assists and 18 digs.

Kirkwood drops to 4-3 in conference play, two of those losses have come in five-set matches. The Eagles host Ellsworth in their final home game of the season next Wednesday. Iowa Central heads to NIACC to keep positioning themselves in the race to host one of the two regional tournaments hosted by the top two seeds.

Hawkeye (16-5; 6-1) def. def. NIACC (16-11; 2-5), 3-0

Hawkeye stifled NIACC on Wednesday night, sweeping past the Trojans 3-0. NIACC fought hard in the first two sets ultimately falling 25-21 and 26-24. Hawkeye dominated the final set 25-16 to seal the match. Megan Hudson finished with a match-high 20 kills and added 16 digs for the RedTails. Paige Eiffler was second on the team with 11 kills. NIACC is in a three-way tie for sixth place with Southeastern and Southwestern with just two matches to go. They face the No. 1 team in the conference, Iowa Central next week. Hawkeye and Northeast will break their tie for second place as they'll battle in Norfolk on Oct. 17.

BOX SCORE

Northeast (15-9; 6-1) def. Ellsworth (1-25; 0-7), 3-0

Northeast kept pace with Hawkeye in their efforts to secure one of the top two seeds in order to host a regional tournament. The Hawks eased past Ellsworth, 3-0.

Still tied with Hawkeye for second place in the ICCAC standings with Northeast, the two will face each other next week in Norfolk to separate themselves. Ellsworth has a tough task facing Kirkwood in Cedar Rapids.

DMACC (19-9; 5-2) def. Southeastern (16-13; 2-5), 3-0

With the Kirkwood loss to Iowa Central and a DMACC win over Southeastern, the Bears are now alone at 5-2 in fourth place. DMACC has won four straight ICCAC matches dating back to Sept. 19 when they beat NIACC, 3-1. The Bears have a 12-2 set advantage in the four matches.

As for last night, DMACC was led by Madison Paulsen and Amber Dilsaver who had 11 and 13 kills, respectively. Gillian Tupper had 35 assists. Paulsen was also the team leader in digs with 15.

The Bears still have a chance to sneak into the top two spots if they win out. They will also need some help from Northeast and Hawkeye, who would both have to lose one or both of their final two matches. The good news for DMACC is the two face each other, guaranteeing a loss. DMACC faces Southwestern next week before getting a shot at Iowa Central in the season finale on Oct. 24.

Southeastern is still eligible for the postseason one game ahead of Iowa Lakes and two ahead of Ellsworth. They will determine their own fate next week as they travel to Iowa Lakes on Oct. 17.

Southwestern (13-17; 2-5) def. Iowa Lakes (9-23; 1-6), 3-2

Southwestern edged Iowa Lakes in a five-set match that broke the tie for 8th place in the ICCAC standings. Iowa Lakes took the first and third sets which positioned themselves to win a fourth set and end the match. But Southwestern remained calm and collected and outscored the Lakers 40-23 in the final two sets of the match.

The Spartan charge was let by Jentri Hullinger and Jada Perkins who had 11 and 10 kills. Ashley Porter and Lyann Mena Rodriguez had 17 and 16 assists. Perkins finished with a double-double as she also led the team in digs with 19.

Southwestern hopes to remain in the playoff picture and could do just that if they can upset DMACC next Wednesday. Iowa Lakes will face Southeastern in a match that could propel the Lakers back into the postseason equation. A win would even their conference records at 2-6, and possibly a four-way tie with NIACC, Southeastern, and Southwestern.
