ICCAC Wrestling Dual Preview: November 15

Here's what you can expect in the next round of ICCAC wrestling duals taking place on Wednesday, November 15th.

No. 1 Ellsworth @ No. 11NIACC

This Wednesday, North Iowa Area Community College will host conference foe and top-ranked Ellsworth Community College in an early-season dual.  NIACC, who lost to second-ranked Iowa Western last week in their first dual of the season, is ranked 11th in the first NJCAA poll of the season.  Ellsworth is coming off a 23-18 win over defending national champion Iowa Central last week.

Ellsworth is led by sophomores Steven Lawrence and Tim Young, who are ranked #1 by Intermat at the 157 pound and 197 pound weight class, respectively.  Last week, Lawrence defeated Iowa Central's Greg Schmalz by technical fall, while Young, who won a national championship last season, pinned the Triton's Eddie Smith.

Austin Anderly, a sophomore from Henderson, Minn., leads NIACC as the top-ranked wrestler at the 141-pound weight class.  Anderly defeated Iowa Western's Kollin Wade by decision in last week's match.  Also during last week's dual, the Trojans' Noah Jackson (157) won his first collegiate match by upsetting third-ranked Tell Ward, 10-7.

A key matchup to watch in this week's dual comes from the 184-pound weight class.  Ellsworth's Anthony Collins, ranked fifth nationally by Intermat, will face fourth-ranked Jaylen Lee.

Wednesday's dual will begin at 7pm at the NIACC gymnasium.

An early-season dual between two top-10 teams will take place in Fort Dodge this Wednesday as #4 Iowa Central hosts #7 Iowa Lakes in a highly anticipated matchup.  Iowa Lakes is coming off a successful season-debut at the Grand View Open last weekend, as three different wrestlers won the championship at their respective weight classes.  On the other side, Iowa Central is coming off a loss last week to Ellsworth.  The Tritons also competed in the Grand View Open, where the Tritons' Jonah Egli took first place in the 174-pound weight class.

Iowa Lakes has four different wrestlers ranked in the top eight in the NJCAA individually by Intermat.  Anthony Maia, a sophomore from Florida, is the top-ranked wrestler for 149-pound weight class; however, Maia was able to take first place in the 157 pound division in last week's Grand View Open.  Isaiah Cox, ranked second at the 184-pound weight class, also took first place at last week's invitational.  In addition, Brady Brott (165) and Cayelon Barton (197) are both ranked eighth for their respective weight classes.

Iowa Central is led by two wrestlers currently both ranked #1 individually by Intermat.  Todd Small leads the Tritons at the 125-pound weight class.  The Tritons' Antrez Clagon is the leading wrestler for the 174-pound division.  Clagon finished second in his weight class in last week's Grand View Open.

The key matchup to watch on Wednesday will be coming from the 165-pound weight class as Iowa Central's Brady Vogel, ranked fifth by Intermat, squares off against the eighth-ranked Brady Brott
