ANKENY, IA- Heading into the final round of the Region XI Women's Golf Championship, there was little doubt that Iowa Western would be lifting the trophy at the end of the day. Entering with a 47-stroke lead on second place DMACC, the Reivers cruised to what ultimately proved to be a 53-stroke win over the next-best squad. That clinches an automatic bid to the NJCAA Women's Golf Championship in Mesa, Arizona on May 14-17, 2018.
Cassidy Evreniadis claimed the individual crown with a round and tournament-best 68, finishing with a 299, and edging teammate and tournament leader coming into Saturday Lisa Lied, who finished two back with 301.
DMACC also had good reason to celebrate. Qualifying four golfers through the individual metric mean they will receive a team score at the national championships in two weeks.
Jaime Bellingham led the Bears with a final round score of 71 and 309 for the tournament.
15 golfers from the ICCAC will advance to the NJCAA championship. The five Iowa Western golfers qualify as a team and 10 additional golfers qualify for individual performances. The complete list of golfers going to Mesa can be found below.
