CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - ICCAC Bowlers went to the Mid-Iowa Conference Championships this past weekend in Cedar Rapids and thrived to say the least.
All three ICCAC teams were in attendance, Hawkeye Iowa Central, and Iowa Western. From those teams -- the ICCAC made up eight of the 10 All-Tournament Team slots available across both men's and women's. All-Tournament is awarded to the top 5 bowlers for each gender.
On the women's side, in an unprecedented occurrence, took all five spots on the All-Tournament Team. With 51 participating bowlers, the ICCAC dominated with six in the top 10 as well. Leading the way as Iowa Western's sophomore, Kerry Crossman. One of the team leaders, Crossman bowled an event-best 999, 199.8 average. She threw a 243 in the first game, the highest game total of anyone in the tournament. She had two other rounds in the 200s with a 212 and a 201.
She was joined by Theresa De Werth who took second, and knocked down 961 total pins.
Iowa Central, who were the team champions at the event, had two top 10 finishers in Anna Frahm and Libby Leach. They eached knocked over 936 and 931 pins respectively. The Tritons won the event as a team by 142 pins.
Rounding out the top 10 performances were Lauren Funk and Ariana Chesmore of Hawkeye. Along with Anna Becker who took 11th, the three RedTail bowlers rolled on average a 180 or higher for the event.
The men's side was won by Aydan Belfiore of Iowa Western. Three Iowa Western bowlers took home All-Tournament honors with Belfiore blowing past the 71 bowler field with a 237.2 average, 16 pins above second place. Casey Montgomery was the runner up -- the Reiver finished with a 221.2 average behind Belfiore.
Rounding out the top Reivers finishers was Jordan Killer who had a 214 average for a fifth place finish. Iowa Western won the event handily over the University of Nebraska -- by 328 pins.
