Kirkwood Head Coach Kim Muhl Named DII Women's Basketball Coach of the Year

Charlotte, NC - Kirkwood (IA) head women's basketball coach Kim Muhl has been named the 2023-24 NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball Coach of the Year.
In his 34th season at the helm of the Eagles, Muhl earned his nineth national championship victory after a third place finish last season.
"In a year where NCAA DI Women's Basketball has been very exciting and caught the attention of the entire country, we here at Kirkwood Community College, have been the benefactors of that type of energy and success for the past 3+ decades with Coach Muhl leading our women's program. The 9 National titles are a testament to his work ethic and uncompromising approach to doing it the right way" said Kirkwood Athletic Director Doug Wagemester.
Kim Muhl coached two 2023-24 NJCAA DII Women's Championship all-tournament team members, Kaylee Corbin and Demetria Prewitt as long with 2023-24 NJCAA DII Women's Championship Most Valuable Player Jenna Twedt. Muhl also coached two NJCAA First Team All-America selections Demetria Prewitt and Jenna Twedt.
The Eagles were challenging every team they faced. They averaged 78.8 points per game on the offensive side while only allowing 51.5 points per game. Kirkwood was among the top teams in the nation in three-point shooting at 34.0% (4th in the nation).
In his 34 seasons leading the Eagles' squad, Kim Muhl has compiled a record of 1045-171 (.859) and currently leads all NJCAA Women's Basketball coaches in career victories.
