Lewis Named Co-Player of the Year for Division I

Indian Hills Destiny Lewis was named the NJCAA Division I Softball Co-Player of the Year on Thursday, along with Grayson's Amiah Galcatcher.

Lewis helped lead Indian Hills to a 47-10 record and a trip to the 2023 NJCAA DI Softball World Series. This past season with the Warriors, Lewis had a .444 batting average with 80 hits, 92 RBI's, 31 homeruns, and 14 doubles.

Head Coach Lindsay Diehl on Lewis- "Destiny has without a doubt left her mark on Indian Hills softball and has become the most decorated player to do it here. She has worked extremely hard to become the ball player she is but I'm just as proud of the growth she has had off the field. She is special in so many ways and I look forward to watching her continue to do great things. We are proud to call her a Warrior."

Lewis was placed on the 2023 NJCAA DI Softball World Series All-Tournament team and is a member of the 2023 NJCAA First-Team All-America team. She was also named the NFCA National Player of the Year, making her the first in program history with that honor.

Athletic Director Brett Monaghan on Lewis- "Destiny is one of the most well decorated student-athletes we have ever had at Indian Hills Community College. While her accolades and statistics speak for themselves, her growth as a person here this past academic year is what will continue to lead her to many more successes in her career. We are certainly proud to call Destiny a Warrior alum and look forward to watching her career unfold at the NCAA Division I level next year."

Lewis is closing out her career with the Warriors by setting eight school records - four season and four career. These records include: homeruns (62), runs (177), RBIs (182), and total bases (407). The sophomore out of Indianola, IA will be continuing her academic and athletic career at Southeastern Louisiana University in the fall.
