FORT DODGE, IA -- Three days after the NJCAA Cross Country National Championships, the ICCAC returned to Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge to compete in the 2020 Half Marathon National Championship. The women ran first at 10 am with the men following.
Women
The Iowa Central women's team finished second overall in the team standings scoring 11 points, just one point behind the champion Trinidad State Junior College. The Tritons were led by individual champion Eleonora Curtabbi who ran almost a whole minute faster than the runner-up with a time of 1:26:39.7. The Tritons had another top-5 individual finisher with Rosalie Fish who placed fifth with a time of 1:30:52.6.
Hawkeye, after finishing third in the Cross Country Championships finished third overall in the team standings for the Half Marathon with 26 points. The RedTails top runner was Kaylee Leicht who ran a time of 1:38:10.1 which was good for eighth place and was followed by teammate Hannah Payne who finished with a time of 1:38:52.
DMACC finished in sixth place overall and the Bears were led by freshman Wendy Liera who placed 20th running a time of 1:51:34.4.

Men
The Iowa Central men's team followed up their NJCAA Cross Country National Championship title with another title in the Half Marathon scoring 15 points. Kelvin Bungei added another top-2 finish after his was the runner-up running a time of 1:07:47.8. The Tritons had three other too-10 finishers which were Pur Biel who finished sixth (1:09:58.4), Hunter Klimek finished seventh with a time of 1:10:04.7, and Noah Friske placed tenth (1:11:36.3).
NIACC finishd in third overall after their team title in the Cross Country last Saturday. The Trojans were led by Melvin Kipkemboi who finished in eighth place with a time of 1:10:57.8 which was 53 seconds behind Hunter Klimek of Iowa Central. The next Trojan runner finished in 11th which was Vicente Correia (1:11:49.5).
Hawkeye ended the meet in eighth place overall with three runners finishing one after the other. Sam Mickelson finished in 37th place (1:21:47.8), Brandon Conrad finished in 38th (1:21:47.80), and Kolby Winter placed 39th with a time of 1:21:52.80.
DMACC placed 10th in the overall team standings with their top runner, Cole Bennett who finished in 54th place with a time of 1:26:49.40.
