ICCAC Cross Country Results | Week 3

Over the weekend, two ICCAC schools competed in the Morningside Invite in North Sioux City, S.D. The meet was held within the Adams Nature Preserve. 

Women - 5K

Results

The Iowa Central women's Cross Country team finished first overall with a team average time of 18:28.41. The Tritons claimed three of the top 5 spots with sophomore, Eleonora Curtabbi, leading the way with a time of 17:26.38 which placed her second individually. Her teammate, Chloe Lenoir, finished right behind her in third place, running a time of 17:47.75. Rounding out the top finishers for the Tritons, sophomore, Rosalie Fish, finished fourth individually with a time of 18:27.70. All three beat their times that were recorded last week at Grand View by a minute. 

Iowa Western placed sixth as a team but Faith Chepengat, the 2019 USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Year, claimed the the individual vicotry finishing with a time of 17:23.45, two seconds ahead of the runner-up, Curtabbi.

 

Men - 8K

Results

On the men's side, Iowa Central continued their streak by winnning their third meet in a row. Freshman Kelvin Bungei was a top the podium once again. He crossed the finish line at a time of 24:49.22. That is two minutes faster than his time last week at the Grand View Invite. His teammate, Pur Biel finished third invidually, beating his time last week as well, coming in at 25:17.21. Triton sophomore Noah Friske rounded out the top 5 finishers placing fifth. Friske ran a 25:32.57 which was one minute faster than his run at Grand View. 

Iowa Western finished third overall and were led by freshman, Yonas Mogos. Keeping with the trend, Mogos also bested his time last week, running a 25:10.60. The next Reivers finisher was Wimachmorr Gilo, who ran a 26:31.34, which earned him a 19th overall finish.

Look Ahead: To end September, the ICCAC is heading to one of their own, Creston, IA with Southwestern hosting the Spartan Classic. This meet will be held on September 25th with DMACC, NIACC, Southeastern, and Southwestern competing.
