NIACC's Palmeter earns first-team all-American honors

Palmeter, who finished sixth last year at the national meet, tied her best 5K time this season.

NIACC's Nicolle Hewett was 91st overall in 20:03, Alyssa Cowan was 98th in 20:11, Lattie Crozier was 143rd in 20:51, just ahead of teammate Kalama Towarup, who was 144th in 20:51. Emmorie Stokka was 183rd in 21:30 and Leta Jaquis was 201st in 21:47 for the Lady Trojans, who finished 13th in the team standings last season.

Meanwhile, the NIACC men finished eighth in the team race with 313 points after finishing 15th last year.

Iowa Central won the team title with 62 points as Central Arizona's Harry Mulenga won the individual title in 24:18.

The Trojans, ranked eighth, were paced by Trey Simons, who finished 32nd in a time of 26:14. Jaime Zarate was 37th in 26:23, Imad Amenzou was 57th in 26:46, Tyler Randall was 76th in 27:13, Colby Kraninger was 126th in 28:16, Oryiane Espeut was 179th in 29:16 and Ricky Jeray was 192nd in 29:36.
