ICCAC Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Year Announced

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference announced the 2017-18 Indoor Track & Field Coach and Male & Female Athlete of the Year on Monday.

Iowa Central head coach Denny Myers was voted Coach of the Year, while Iowa Central's Adva Cohen was named Female Athlete of the Year and Iowa Western's Vincent Gordon was named Male Athlete of the Year.

Iowa Western's Vincent Gordon was named the Male Athlete of the Year for the 2017-18 Indoor Track & Field season. A native of Champaign, Ill., Gordon finished in sixth place in the 60 meters and 200 meters at the NJCAA Indoor National Championships.  He was also on the Reiver's 4x400 meter team, who placed fifth at the National Meet. Gordon won the same three events at the Region XI Championships.

Iowa Central's Adva Cohen earned Female Athlete of the Year honors after a successful Indoor Track & Field season. Cohen finished second in the rankings at the Indoor National Championship with 25 points. A native of Jerusalem, Cohen earned All-American honors in the 1000 meters, 3000 meters, 4x800 meter relay, and Distance Medley relay events. She finished first in both individual events and the Tritons won both relays.

At the Regional level, Cohen also won the 600 meters and the 4x400 meter relay, however, she did not participate in those events at the National Meet. Cohen adds to her collection after winning the 2018 NJCAA Women's Cross Country Championship. She was also named the 2018 ICCAC Female Cross Country Athlete of the Year.

In his eighth season as the Triton head coach, Denny Myers helped lead Iowa Central to a third-place finish at this year's Indoor National Championship for the women's team and a fifth-place finish for the men's team. Since Myers took over the program at Iowa Central in 2010, the Tritons' women's team has won two national championships (2012 & 2014), while the men's team has been crowned national champions three times (2011, 2012 & 2014).
