2023 ICCAC Fall Preview | Men's Soccer

Division I:

ICCAC Division I Men's Soccer is now down to two teams, Iowa Western and Indian Hills. With the other teams moving on to Division II, the Reivers and Warriors will continue to fight with one another to be at the top.

Iowa Western made it to the National Tournament through an at-large bid last year and managed to win their first game. However, the Reivers were unable to escape pool play after losing to to Salt Lake (Utah). The Reivers have reached the National Tournament each of the last four seasons, winning it all in 2022.

Indian Hills managed to defeat Iowa Western in the Region 11 Tournament Championship, 2-0. The Warriors missed out on the National Tournament after losing in the District semifinals to Jefferson (Mo.) IHCC aims to return to the National Tournament for the first time since 2017.

A new look District Tournament places both Region 11 teams in the tournament this season -- and the Region 11 Champion hosting --  but every other year will battle out one spot in the four-team format.

Division II:

Division II Men's Soccer welcomes Iowa Central, Iowa Lakes, Marshalltown, and Western Iowa Tech in the ranks. Three of the colleges come from the Division I ranks while Western Iowa Tech officially added athletics to their school, with men's soccer being one of them. With the newly added teams, there are now nine teams in Division II Soccer.

This season will be competitive to say the least, as Southeastern, Northeast, and Iowa Lakes are some of the favorites to compete for the Region 11 Championship. The Lakers are ranked first in the coaches poll, Southeastern is coming off winning the Region 11 regular season title, and Northeast is coming off making an appearance in the National Tournament. Each of the teams bring back talent along with adding key freshmen to the mix of their rosters.

Marshalltown and Iowa Central are expected to be in the middle of the pack within the standings as they dropped down divisions while also keeping some of their talent from the past season. However, they could slide up towards the top -- as Division II soccer may be one of the more competitive sports in the ICCAC.

Hawkeye, NIACC, Western Iowa Tech, and Scott round out the rest of the teams.

Come postseason, Dakota County (Minn.) will be inserted into the Region 11 Tournament -- Western Iowa Tech will bow out, as they are ineligible for postseason play in their first season of competition.

Find out where everyone fits in now, and check back at the end of the season on who comes out of Region 11.
